2019 LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship Opens Volunteer Registration
Volunteer registration is now open for the LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship, a full-field LPGA Tour event at Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City, CA from April 29 – May 5, 2019. The official LPGA Tour event will host 144 of the world’s best female golfers in a four-day stroke-play event competing for a purse of $1.8 million. Returning for its second year, Tournament officials say the success of the inaugural year can largely be attributed to the continued commitment from the Bay Area community including its volunteers, who were recognized by the LPGA Tour. This year, the Tournament seeks more than 400 volunteers to fill roles on 20 different committees including Marshals, Standard Bearers, Walking Scorers and Hospitality.
“The 2018 LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship was a resounding success in the Bay Area community. Building from its success, we are excited to once again welcome the LPGA Tour to Lake Merced Golf Club,” said Patrick Healy, Senior Director of the Tournament. “Without the support from our incredibly strong team of volunteers, this event would not be possible. The LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship is for the entire Bay Area community and we are thankful that the event has been embraced by attendees, community partners and volunteers.”
The volunteer fee is $55, which includes an official Tournament golf shirt, hat, outerwear and four daily tickets for friends or family, and meals during scheduled shifts. Additionally, the volunteer badge is valid as a grounds pass, as well as provides access to parking throughout event week. While some committees require golf knowledge, there are plenty of opportunities that require no golf knowledge or experience. Volunteers are encouraged to register early, as committees and shift times are filled on a first come first serve basis. Registration can be completed through medihealchamp.com
At the inaugural event in 2018, Lydia Ko eliminated Minjee Lee on the first playoff hole to win the 2018 LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship and become the youngest player in the LPGA Tour or PGA TOUR history to win 15 career titles. The title was Lydia’s fifth in the state of California, having already won the 2014 and 2015 Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic, 2016 Kia Classic and 2016 ANA Inspiration. The win was also Lydia’s third title at Lake Merced Golf Club.
